Ex-US Army Chief Hails Ekiti Obas’ Move To Drag Fayemi Into Presidential Race
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress(APC) ,Captain Sunday Adebomi has commended the resolve of the Ekiti State Council of Obas to prevail on Governor Kayode Fayemi to join the race for the 2023 Presidential Election.
Adebomi ,Chairman, Ekiti State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) said the action of the Traditional Rulers was in line with the desire of many party stakeholders and spirited Nigerians who have acknowledged the leadership style of Fayemi both as the governor and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF).
In a statement made available to journalists in Ise-Ekiti ,Adebomi, former governorship aspirant APC disclosed that Fayemi has provided quality leadership in the two fronts ,urging other Ekiti leaders to encourage and support his Presidential Ambition .
He explained that Nigerians did acknowledged Fayemi’s quick responses to issues bordering on governance and security both at home and at the centre.
” I am glad to read about the resolve of our revered royal fathers to prevail on our governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi to contest the 2023 Presidential Ambition. The Obas’position was in tandem with numerous calls by spirited Nigerians urging our governor to consider the offer.
“This is an interesting moment and every Ekiti sons and daughters should key into this agenda. We are all living witnesses to the wonderful things Mr Governor is doing with the meagre resources accrued to Ekiti .We have no doubt that his local and international connections have benefitted the state in no small measure .
“It is no gain saying that Fayemi is a star amongst his colleagues .We believe that his experience in war studies would be of an added advantage of given the chance to ,read the country.Once again, I want to salute the courage of the Obas for coming out boldly at this critical moment to lend their voice to the appeal .
” I want to also appeal to Mr Governor not to turn down this appeal.It would be our joy to see an Ekiti man holding the highest political office in Nigeria for the first time .
Needless to say that Fayemi has the requisite credentials ,he had been part and parcel of struggle for democracy and good governance in Nigeria .
The Ekiti State Chairman of the Traditional Rulers Council and Alawe of Ilawe Ekiti, Oba Adebanji Ajibade Alabi had hinted that the council would soon send a high powered delegation to meet with the governor contend the subject matter .The decision was reached on Tuesday ,at the council meeting held in Ado-Ekiti .
The foremost monarch stressed that the challenges confronting Nigeria today would definitely need a young, dynamic, energetic and brilliant Fayemi who has the wherewithal to be a good president.
